A change in status of state-owned France Telecom is vital to enabling it to develop in international markets, French Industry Minister Gerard Longuet said: becoming a proper company, equipped with all the means to develop its presence on international markets, is absolutely vital; France Telecom will first be transformed into a joint stock company with the majority of capital to be held by the state.
