Digital Communications Associates Inc seems to regard businesses as being for buying and selling rather than keeping, and the Alpharatta, Georgia firm has now sold the Dayton, Ohio-based 10Net Communications business to Tiara Computer Systems Inc, Mountain View, California for $2.5m – and Digital Communications made a 10% equity investment in Tiara. Digital Communications bought the business – then called Fox Research – from its parent, Fox Associates Inc in September 1987 for $10m plus performance payments of up to $6.5m. Tiara acquires all 10Net’s local network hardware and software product line, take over the premises and take on the staff. The 10Net line includes the 10Net Plus peer-to-peer network operating system for MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows users, and Ethernet adaptors. Tiara makes its own local network adaptors and concentrators.
