SaaS security firm Qualys has decided to get into the Christmas spirit early, by offering free licences for its Secure Seal protection software over the festive period, along with its Qualys BrowserCheck and SSL Server Audit platforms.

The company says the deal, which runs until January 30, 2012, will enable companies to protect their web presence during the busy pre- and post-Christmas shopping period. Qualys also says the services will help businesses to protect their employees, many of whom will do their Christmas shopping from the comfort of their desk.

Secure Seal enables businesses to scan their web sites for the presence of malware, as well as network and web application vulnerabilities. It can also check for SSL certificate validation.

BrowserCheck scans a user’s browser for vulnerabilities, both in the system itself and in any plug-ins that have been installed. It can also point a user in the right direction for fixes.

Finally the SSL Server Audit can perform a deep analysis of the configuration of any SSL web server on the public Internet, Qualys said. This means users can check how safe a site is before they actually visit it.

"Browsers and web sites are the primary targets for cyber attackers, so online shoppers and businesses need to take the proactive measures to protect themselves this festive season," said Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO for Qualys.

"Ensuring your browser and all its plug-ins are at the latest security level is a must – and it takes only four seconds for Qualys to help you find out. Making sure your business web site is not compromised or vulnerable to attacks is equally as important, and the Qualys Secure Seal provides an effective solution for maintaining a rigorous and proactive security program to help you safeguard your customers’ data."
