French anti-racism groups dropped a lawsuit Thursday against Apple over an iPhone app called "Jew or not Jew?" after it was retracted.
Lawyer Stephane Lilti said the decision was motivated by the removal of the application in all countries of the world.
The app let users consult a database of celebrities and public figures to determine how Jewish they are.
Four anti-racism groups in France, SOS Racisme, MRAP, the Union of Jewish Students of France and J’accuse, had protested against the app and filed a suit against Apple.
Representatives of Apple in France would not comment on the decision, nor did a lawyer for Apple at the hearing.
Apple had removed numerous apps from the App Store since it was launched in mid-2008 for violating the various restrictions it imposes on developers.
