Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Shiva Corp has announced no charge software upgrades that make its products compatible with Apple Computer Inc’s System 7.0 operating system: Shiva says that the Dial-In Network Access software enables telecommuters to exploit System 7.0’s networking functions from geographically remote locations; remote users can dial into the local network and use System 7.0’s file sharing and Publish and Subscribe functions as if they were another node on the local network; TeleBridge and NetModem V.32 allow transparent communications between geographically separated local area networks; Shiva’s software upgrades will be available in June and users customers can obtain free updates by downloading the software via Shiva’s dial-in network; updates can also be downloaded from AppleLink, America Online, Connect, CompuServe and the Internet service.
