3Com Corp, San Jose, California has upgraded its bridging and routing software for the NetBuilder internetworking system, adding extra components of TCP/IP and enhancing wide area network support. Brouter version 3.0 software adds the Open Shortest Path First protocol and Point to Point Protocol to its implementation of TCP/IP. Wide area support has been expanded to include X25 and Frame Relay interfaces for both public and private packet switched networks. And software enhancements enable administrators of wide area NetBuilders to connect two local networks to two wide area connections. Bridging Software version 4.0 offers extra packet forwarding and blocking capabilities for enhanced security, as well as the TCP/IP Point to Point protocol in bridged environments. 3Com will also to launch concurrent TCP/IP and OSI Connection Service software for its line of CS terminal servers. Available from June, the software enables terminal and personal computer users simultaneously to access minicomputers and other hosts running TCP/IP and Open Systems Interconnection protocols. Connection Service Software products designed to provide dual access to various protocols such as Xerox Network Systems TCP/IP and DEC LAT. Concurrent TCP/IP and OSI Connection Service software for CS/2000 and CS/2100 Terminal Servers will be available next month at $250 per server.
