3Com Corp and Japanese businessman Seiji Uehara, are to form a new communications company, 3Com Kabushiki Kaisha: headquartered in Tokyo, it will develop, build and market global data networking products adapted to Japanese requirements and standards; 3Com will retain 51% ownership and with Seiji Uehara owning 49% and assuming the office of president; the company will develop new products based on wide-area communications and topology standards like ISDN and FDDI; Seiji Uehara holds directorships with NetOne Systems and Networld, and he is vice chairman of the Japanese Networking Association.
