Following on the heels of the IBM Personal Computers Europe and Novell Europe partnership, which resulted in NetWare from IBM and a European service and support tie-in, comes NetWare from Compaq Computer Corp and the formation of an Enterprise Computing Partnership between the two companies. Issued in two versions, NetWare 3.12 from Compaq and NetWare 4.01 from Compaq, the product is available on 3.5 disk or CD. In addition to the network operating system, the package comes with Compaq Edge, a free range of installation, integration and management tools to maximise the functionality of a Compaq server in a NetWare environment. Prices for 3.12 start at UKP760 for five user licences, and UKP970 for 4.01 five user licences. According to Compaq in the UK, the partnership with Novell will entail developing future products, including upcoming multi-processing products from Compaq; facilitating the integration, development, sales and service and marketing of the products; providing customers with complete integrated networking systems by co-ordinating sales and support activities; and the creation of joint marketing programmes to address new market opportunities.
