The collaboration between Microsoft Corp and Compaq Computer Corp on handheld and other computers appears to be of a different order from the software giant’s alliances with any other personal computer manufacturer, and in the latest development, DSP Group Inc, Santa Clara says it is working with the two to develop speech compression technology for Windows-based computers using its TrueSpeech software technology. Products using TrueSpeech from Microsoft and Compaq are expected later on this year.
