IBM said it will invest RM1bn over the next six years to build a new information technology global delivery centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, creating up to 3,000 new highly skilled jobs.
This centre will provide competency based services, as well as multilingual capabilities, and be a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for software distribution and packaging. To help develop the necessary local skills, IBM is setting up an international leadership team in Cyberjaya.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said IBM has been a supportive partner to Malaysia’s efforts to build a competitive and modern shared services hub.
IBM Malaysia managing director Ramanathan Sathiamutty said this marks a new chapter in their partnership with the Malaysian government which began 50 years ago.
The centre, which is IBM’s 21st in Malaysia, will offer clients from various industries across the globe server systems operations, security services, project management and end-user services.
