Woodbury, New York-based Cablevision Systems Corp has signed with Digital Equipment Corp to combine DEC’s Digital Channel technology with Cablevision’s fibre optic cable system in the New York City area and other Cablevision networks across the US: the pooling of their technology will establish another lane in Cablevision’s electronic superhighway so that customers can extend local area networks for services such as distance learning, electronic trade, electronic mail, telecommuting and telebanking.
