AST Research Inc of Irvine, California has extended its Bravo family of computers with the Bravo 286/16: said to have a near zero-wait-state performance, the 16MHz computer is claimed to be one of the fastest 80286-based computers available; it is based on the Am80L286-16 microprocessor from Advanced Micro Devices and is upgradeable to a 20MHz 80386SX machine; it includes a 3.5 1Mb floppy drive, and model 43V has a 40Mb fixed disk; the first costs UKP1,200 and the 43V is $1,600; the Bravo 386SX/20 costs from $1,900, and the 20MHz offering is claimed to offers a 25% performance improvement over 16MHz SX computers.
