Norton has released its Tablet Security and new updates for Norton Mobile Security, including a new "Scream" feature that helps users find a lost or stolen phone.
Norton Tablet Security is designed for Android tablets to protect the device, as well as the user’s privacy and important data, against loss, theft, viruses, and other threats.
The Norton Tablet Security features Web-based Anti-Theft to locate lost or stolen tablet; an Anti-Malware that scans all the apps and app updates downloaded to the mobile device and SD card for threats and a Web Protection that provides Norton Safe Web technology alerts on fraudulent and malicious websites to protect the device from content accessed or downloaded over mobile networks and Wi-Fi connections.
Norton Mobile Security also features SMS-based antitheft features; Web-based antitheft features; privacy features, and a Web-based feature, "Lost Notice," that allows users to display a customisable message to anyone who finds the missing device so the owner can make arrangements to get it back.
It also includes a "Scream" locator feature that lets users send a text to their missing phone to remotely activate an alarm, helping them locate their device.
Norton Mobile Products vice-president Dave Cole said with today’s smartphones, people stand to risk losing much more than contact information when a device is lost or stolen – it’s access to their email, social networking sites, financial institutions or even exposing personal photos or videos, as many celebrities have.
