Manchester, England based Braintree Security Software Ltd has won Digital Equipment Corp as a customer for its Security CeNTre software, to manage its corporate Windows NT infrastructure. The worldwide deal covers Digital’s entire internal network, estimated by Braintree’s UK managing director, Keith Marsden, to be between 40,000 and 50,000 machines. The software is designed to enable system and security administrators to manage security in NT environments and was developed from the company’s existing security offerings that run on DEC’s Open VMS. Features include real-time event alerting and response and the ability to define multiple configurations to cater for a range of system classifications. The tool also allows users to define and enforce corporate security policy standards. However Braintree believes its centralized administration is what gave it the edge over rivals in this case, eliminating the need to install the software on every client. Braintree says it currently has between 40 and 50 employees based in its two sites in the UK and America and revenues of around $10m. Marsden believes this is the company’s biggest ever deal.
