Bay Networks Inc has introduced its BaySecure Access Control RADIUS Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service server. The new server will be available for NT, NetWare and Unix networks, and will support Bay Networks’ 5000 MSX and Remote Annex product lines, including the Model 5399 and Model 8000 remote access concentrators, the Nautica 4000 platform, the BayRS and BayStream routers. The BaySecure Access Control RADIUS server integrates network operating systems’ user directories, while including embedded databases, vendor-specific attribute support, graphical user interface-based user and group profiles, and real-time statistics for managing remote access security. Bay says the new server, which enables multiple remote access servers to authenticate dial-in users against a central database, implements the IETF Internet Engineering Task Force RADIUS standard. It also supports vendor-specific authentication requests from RADIUS- compliant devices, including those from Bay Networks, Ascend Communications Inc, Cisco Systems Inc, US Robotics Inc/3Com Corp, and Shiva Corp among others. The BaySecure Access Control RADIUS server also includes an embedded database which enables site-wide security management while saving the cost of acquiring a database. Security management is centralized for remote access servers and routers. BaySecure Access Control RADIUS server for Windows NT and NetWare will be available this September; the BaySecure Access Control Unix version is planned for November. A single BaySecure Access Control RADIUS server is $4,500 and a single server is $8,500.
