SQRibe Technologies Inc has introduced a product that it claims will enable companies, through a browser, to quickly find any resource in their database, data warehouse or on their intranet. It also enables reports to be generated and for non-technical users to export documents and reports for archiving. ReportMart is a pure-Java architecture comprising several Java applications that store, manage and deliver information to users over intranets using the company’s SQR reporting tool, which runs on some 85 platforms. It includes WebSQRibe, a web-like interface accessible through a browser with which users locate documents. These could be anything from reports to Excel or Word documents. The clever bit, says the Menlo Park, California company is the way ReportMart links the front end search engine to the databases. Users are also able to run reports using WebSQRibe. WebSQRibe sits on the web server and talks to the users interface and the ReportMart server. That in turn talks to the databases and other file systems that store the company information. ReportMart starts at $15,000 per Windows NT server. WebSQRibe starts at $150 for up to 50 users.
