A glitch in the website for the former High Court judges responsible for oversight of MI5, MI6 and wiretapping has been shut down, according to The Telegraph.
The new website had to be shut down, after it emerged that a edit feature had been left on every page, which allowed anyone visiting the website to change any text and upload files.
The Intelligence Services Commissioner, Mark Waller, and the Interception of Communications Commissioner, Paul Kennedy, promptly blocked the site and published a secure version at a new address.
However, a spokesman for the Commissioners said that the freely-editable feature was not an error. He said that it was in fact a part of a "transparency drive" of the Commisioners to allow interested parties to comment on the website. He added that this practice was not uncommon, said The Telegraph.
The spokesman also said that the website contained no sensitive material and was not linked to other systems. However, The Telegraph said that the website had only one comment which questioned the Commissioners about the freely editable feature allowing open access to content management systems on an official website.
