Spain’s second basic telephony operator Retevision has decided to get enter the Spanish mobile telecoms market either through bidding for a license or seeking a alliance with existing operators, according to its chairman Pedro de Torres. Retevision’s first move will be to look to secure a deal with the existing mobile operator Airtel, says a report in Spanish daily El Pais. However, if an agreement with Airtel cannot be reached, Retevision will bid for a license as Spain’s third mobile telecoms operator. De Torres added that Retevision intends to become a major operator of global services in the multimedia, audiovisual and telecoms sectors.
