Purchasers of Performas – and perhaps all new Apple Computer Inc Macintoshes – soon will be able to troubleshoot their computers with MacCheck, a consumer version of Apple’s MacTest Pro diagnostic software, sources told MacWeek: MacCheck is intended to ease the job of Apple’s Assistance Centre personnel by giving users information about their system and its problems before they place a call; the sources also told the paper that MacCheck will ship with Performas beginning this month and the program, designed to operate with any Mac under System 7, eventually may be bundled with all new Macs.
