Retix Corp, based in Santa Monica, California, has added multi-protocol routing to its line of bridge-routers: the 4900 Series Remote Bridge-Routers have routing software for TCP/IP, IPX and DECnet protocols, and it includes the 4942 with wide area network ports and one-port 4941; both were available previously with bridging and TCP/IP routing; in addition to the new routing capabilities, the 4900 Series has been upgraded to include new features like X25 support and data compression; both the 4942 and 4941 implement the Simple Network Management Protocol, and both can be managed by the Retix 5025 Network Management Center which uses Sun Microsystems’ Sparcstation family; the 4941 starts at $5,000 and the 4942 comes in at around $7,000.
