Unified communications (UC) provider ShoreTel has updatated its ShoreTel Mobility, a smartphone integration offering designed to integrate smartphones and tablet devices with IP Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems extending full UC and cost-saving calling capabilities to the mobile workforce.

ShoreTel said with its heterogeneous platform support, ShoreTel Mobility delivers capabilities that conform to the way people want and need to work and IT professionals can now empower their users with enterprise UC on the smartphones leveraging the IP PBX platform that they already have while reducing costs and securing enterprise communications.

ShoreTel Mobility enables corporate communication applications on employee-owned smartphones and tablets which reduces support costs and burden separation of personal and business identities on a single mobile device, said the company.

ShoreTel said its Mobility offering provides full-feature suite for the latest devices on the BlackBerry OS 6 platform and offers an ongoing support for Apple iOS devices.

With the ShoreTel’s new offering, native telephony interface integration is enabled on Android OS 2.2+ such as Motorola ATRIX 4G, Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Droid X2, HTC Droid Incredible 2, and Motorola Droid, said the company.

The company said organisations can reduce their mobile phone bills by up to 70% on a broad range of smartphones, international roaming and direct dial charges on smartphones are reduced with the help of ShoreTel Mobility.

The California-based company said its mobilty offering empowers the IT group to manage the security risk of enterprise communication in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment in a way that does not hinder productivity and the offering eases the workload of IT staff allowing them to focus on more business-critical missions.

The new offering is easy to adopt and it automatically recognises when users are outside the enterprise firewall and initiates the application layer SSL VPN, said ShoreTel.
