Telecom company AT&T has introduced five new Android smartphones — the Motorola ATRIX 2, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung DoubleTime, Pantech Pocket and the AT&T Avail, a new smartphone option for prepaid customers.
AT&T said that with the new launches, the company provides more options for customers seeking the Android OS experience at a variety of price points, form factors and through unique services.
AT&T said its Android smartphone, the Motorola ATRIX 2, combines "extreme power" with "life of the party" all at an affordable price.
Motorola ATRIX 2 features include: 4G HSPA+ 21 Mbps; 1 GHz dual-core processor; 8 GB ROM, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB microSD card (expandable to 32GB); Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It also features an 8 MP camera and LED flash; front-facing camera, said AT&T.
The American telecommunications company said Samsung Captivate Glide has enhanced Exchange ActiveSync support for IT policies, task synchronisation and global address lookup. In addition, it features a 4-inch 480×800 WVGA Super AMOLED screen; dual camera – 8MP and VPN support and Mobile Device Management (MDM).
AT&T said about another new smartphone, the Samsung DoubleTime, that it is perfect for texting, multitasking and staying connected to social networks.
The company said for users focused on social entertainment and messaging and those users who want a wider screen, the Pantech Pocket is the ideal smartphone.
AT&T’s own Avail smartphone features include: 512 MB RAM, 2 GB microSD card; Android 2.3 (Gingerbread); 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen; 5 MP camera and video recorder. It has seven customisable homescreens and is Wi-Fi capable, said the company.
Earlier, AT&T has said that it aims to launch 12 new Android devices before the end of 2011. The company has already introduced 12 Android smartphones and two new Android tablets since February.
