Westborough, Massachusetts-based Banyan Systems Inc has announced that version 2.0 of Vines Assistant – designed to help with the administration and diagnostics of Vines networks from v4.0 onwards – will be available from May. Enhancements include a Historical Performance Analyser which collects data and allows the network administrator to display information and detect trends graphically. Different metrics can be selected for display as well as different server resources and performance parameters. The Server Console utility has also been enhanced, and now includes 24 different utilities, some targeted towards data collection, to provide on-going support and diagnosis of server problems. The user interface has also been altered to prevent administrators from having to learn complex commands, and is now menu driven with on-line help. No information on UK pricing, but in the US it will retail for $700 with a free upgrade for all current users.
