The UK’s Pericom Software Ltd, a division of Milton Keynes-based Pericom Plc, which also has a subsidiary in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, has enhanced its teem-X range of terminal emulation software to support graphical user interfaces. Sun Microsystems Inc Sun-3 and Sparcstation versions are now available with both Open Look and Motif graphical user interfaces supplied as standard, enabling users to choose which one to use for a particular workstation configuration. Other versions not supporting Open Look, such as ones for Silicon Graphics Inc’s Iris, IBM Corp’s RS/6000 and Hewlett-Packard Co’s HP9000s have been upgraded to support Motif. The current teem-X graphical user interface will gradually be phased out. The teem-X range enables existing software to be displayed in X Window format without conversion, emulating software written for the Digital Equipment Corp VT320/340 or Tektronix Inc, Hewlett-Packard, Data General Corp and Retrographics Inc standards. Other hardware supported include Apollo, DECstations and VMS VAXstations, Motorola Inc 88000 and various X-terminals.
