Redwood City, California-based Network Equipment Technologies Inc has followed IBM Corp in going to Hewlett-Packard Co for a licence to use its HP OpenView Network Node Manager 2.0 network management software, using it as the basis of its SNMP Manager program for the Sun Microsystems Inc Sparcstation environment, which is designed to enable a network administrator to configure, troubleshoot and monitor performance of multivendor TCP/IP networks of computers and communications kit from a single workstation: it operates with a Network Equipment Series 5000 network-management system and runs on a Sparcstation for single-point access to local- and wide-area net devices.
