GEC Computer Services Ltd has bought a suite of software engineering tools from Chesham, Buckinghamshire-based Delta Software International Ltd and intends to use the tool set to develop its business control packages that run with IMS on an Amdahl Corp mainframe, into a multi-environment; the Delta/Amelio tools will aid the re-engineering of existing code into the required hardware-independent product and thus enable it to deliver its product set with a choice of hardware and database; GEC also claims the tool set will improve the maintenance of systems by providing standard documentation and producing structured code; in addition, GEC will be using Delta/Application Development as the development tool for new products.
