Deutsche Bundespost Telekom is getting more and more restive as the politicians dither and wrangle over its privatisation, and chairman Helmut Ricke told Reuters in Bonn that it would seek to convert into a joint stock company as soon as the legislation was passed, without waiting for a flotation; he also said that reducing its workforce and expanding its international operations was urgent; he also rejected a damning government report attacking its services as out of date and too expensive, saying that the report was based on 1990 data; the report said Telekom was expensive and had frequent technical faults, and had retarded growth in Germany’s telecommunications industry by failing to introduce the innovative services that had become standard in other countries.
