San Jose-based CMOS static RAM designer and manufacturer Paradigm Technology Inc has been rescued from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection by a Singapore company, ACMA Pte Ltd, which has invested $5m and provided a $5m line of credit, and National Semiconductor Corp, which has invested $1m. The bankruptcy court has approved the reorganisation of the privately-held company, which sees unsecured creditors getting shares in Paradigm. The company says the Chapter 11 filing did not affect manufacturing of current product lines or development of future products. Integrated Device Technology Inc failed in a late bid to win worldwide technology rights to the product lines; the company says it also received friendly offers from Hyundai Electronics Co and interest from two other semiconductor companies. Paradigm reckons it was the first non-Japanese company to offer customers very fast 4M-bit statics, and says that with the introduction of the Pentium and PowerPC, demand for its very fast 32K by 9 and 32K by 18 9nS statics has taken a sharp upturn.
