VLSI Technology Inc has implemented the ARM7 core onto the newly released ARM710 and has an enhanced version of the ARM610: both have 500mW power consumption; the ARM710 can be used in 5V or 3.3V systems and operates at 40MHz with a 5V supply; power dissipation at this clock rate is 500mW; the 710 provides 32-bit RISC performance, on-chip cache, memory management unit, write buffer with cache size doubled to 8Kb; it also runs at 25MHz with 3.3V supply; the enhanced ARM610 operates at 33MHz with a 5V supply; in quantities of 10,000, the 610 costs $17 and the 710 is $20; samples are available now.
