Oracle has release Pillar Axiom Release 5 Software for Pillar Axiom 600 Storage Systems, which the company says is compatible with previous Pillar Axiom 500 and 300 storage systems.

The Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System enables storage consolidation with performance, scalability and efficiency driven by its Quality of Service (QoS) technology, the company said.

Oracle said its new software simplifies the management of multiple data types and application workloads with easy-to-use application profiles pre-tuned for Oracle environments, helps to lower the cost of enterprise storage, increase data security and data protection service levels, and allows users to scale system performance and capacity thresholds without disrupting operations.

With this new software, Pillar Axiom Storage Systems are expected to help lower the cost of enterprise storage, increase data security and data protection service levels, and allow users to scale system performance and capacity thresholds without disrupting operations.

The new enhancements in the storage system include Pillar Axiom Storage Domains that help alleviate security, compliance and regulatory risks; Pillar Axiom MaxMan that enables management of multiple Axiom storage systems anywhere from a single Java-based interface; and Pillar Axiom MaxRep that simplifies data mobility and migration and provides advanced data protection capabilities.

Oracle Storage Solutions senior vice president Mike Workman said Oracle’s Pillar Axiom Storage System has differentiated itself from other storage offerings in two ways – through enterprise storage innovation and an unwavering focus on simplifying the customer experience.

"Today’s announcement enhance our patented QoS technology and enable customers to optimise the performance of Oracle Applications, Oracle Database, and Oracle Fusion Middleware that are supported by Axiom storage," said Workman.
