Storage Technology Corp needs new products to keep its sales force busy, having handed all its disk storage subsystems over to IBM Corp, and the first it has lighted on comes from Westborough, Massachusetts-based INSCI Corp, maker of the Coinserv client-server archiving software, which will be offered with StorageTek’s new line of automated tape library products. INCI says both companies are convinced that there is a huge new market opening up for massive tape-based data stores that use client-server rather than mainframe computers and software. INCI products are already resold by Xerox Corp, Unisys Corp and the Oce Printing Systems unit of Oce-van der Grinten NV, which bought it from Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG.
