Turner Broadcasting Corp’s Cable News Network and Intel Corp used the show to announce major enhancements to the CNN at Work service, which delivers live broadcast news and information over personal computer networks. The changes were developed specifically for CNNfn – the financial network – to enable subscribers to receive customised business news content based on user-defined keywords and topics. The Atlanta-based company says that the new features will also be made available for the networks currently supported by CNN at Work, Headline News and CNN. The enhancements include a new filtering capability that enables individuals to capture breaking news stories and articles of interest automatically. An Alerts feature notifies the user when stories matching an active filter, or keyword, are captured. Users are now given a choice of news from the new financial network CNNfn, Headline News, or CNN, and access to business articles from Time, Fortune, Lexis-Nexis and late-breaking news from Reuters and Knight-Ridder Financial News inserted within the broadcasts of CNNfn and Headlines News for access from a personal computer. CNN at Work subscriptions are available immediately at the individual subscription rate of $12.50 per month billed annually. The Multimedia Gateway that transforms the analogue signal to CNN at Work’s digital format costs $5,000.
