Atlanta, Georgia-based XcelleNet Inc is now shipping RemoteWare for Windows NT version 3.1, adding improved management, optimization and control. The 32-bit package enables users to connect to the enterprise through an Internet browser while simultaneously updating applications, exchanging files and electronic mail and replicating databases. Support for the Messaging Application Programming Interface messaging standard has been added, and a new Subscriber component enables the distribution and central management of information to remote and mobile users. The company claims it can deliver virtually any file format, including ASCII, text, graphics or HyperText Mark-up Language files. Also new is RemoteWare Workshop, designed to enable administrators to create and deploy graphical desktops, and providing a centrally-managed interface to applications and hosting ActiveX controls. The company says future releases of RemoteWare – from the end of the first quarter next year – will include a Web Offline feature, enabling administrators to gather and distribute Web-based content to users as needed. RemoteWare 3.1 is licensed on a client and server basis. Server prices range from $5,000 to $30,000, with clients available for $200.
