Milpitas, California-based Octel Communications Corp has three products designed for speech and facsimile messaging. Visual Mailbox and Dial 7.1 are both designed for Octel’s VMX series of products, while Release 4.0 works with the company’s Aspen product line. Visual Mailbox is said to enable users to access spoken and facsimile messages through a Windows interface, while Dial 7.1 supports Visual Mailbox on VMX. Release 4.0 features Message Locator, designed to help users identify messages that need immediate attention, and Call Sender, enabling users to transfer instantly to the sender of an internal message, without exiting the mailbox. Optional features include Extension Mailbox, which gives individual spoken messaging capabilities to users that share a phone, and FaxResponse, which enables users to request and receive standardised documents.
