Verizon Communications has acquired cloud software technology provider CloudSwitch.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Verizon said it will help them move to the enterprise cloud and encourage industry adoption.
Verizon plans to combine Burlington, Massachusetts, based CloudSwitch with its Terremark IT services subsidiary.
Verizon, through its Terremark subsidiary, offers enterprise-class IT, cloud and security services, while Terremark services enable customers to improve IT infrastructure and application performance.
Verizon claimed that the deal will boost its global cloud strategy by enhancing hybrid-cloud and cloud-to-cloud capabilities.
CloudSwitch brings Verizon breakthrough software that enables enterprises to move applications, or workloads, between company data centres and the cloud without changing the application or the infrastructure layer, enabling widespread cloud adoption.
With CloudSwitch’s technology, enterprises will have control in moving to and from the cloud, while extending security over applications and data, Verizon said.
In addition, enterprise applications remain tightly integrated and can be managed as if they are running locally.
Together with Terremark’s IT and security capabilities, the technology further enables total enterprise-class cloud offerings from private-to-public, public-to-public and hybrid, across the globe.
