Meantime Sunnyvale, California-based SuperMac Technology Inc, has won a significant contract from Xerox Corp for interface controllers to turn the Stamford, Connecticut company’s MajestiK Color Series copiers into 400 dot per inch PostScript Level 2 colour printers. Terms of the multi-million dollar, multi-year OEM contract were not given. The Splash board, first demonstrated in October, and the Xerox MajestiK port kit, will together cost $19,900 from Xerox, starting next month: Splash comprises system-level software and a single board that goes into a full-size Macintosh NuBus slot. It includes a Raster Image Processor and PostScript Level 2 compatibility via Adobe Systems Inc’s Configurable PostScript Interpreter running on a 40MHz R3000-family RISC processor with integrated image buffer. It can be driven from Mac and Windows.
