IT analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has ranked IBM number one in application management services (AMS) market share in terms of revenue.

The report, ‘Worldwide and US Application Management Services 2010 Vendor Shares: IDC’s Top 10 Vendors,’ says that IBM leads in both Worldwide and US Discrete market share, with double-digit year-over-year growth in both segments.

IBM continued to hold a major lead in Consolidated AMS revenue, offering integrated or discrete service options to help clients address efficiency, cost and portfolio modernization options, according to the report.

IBM Global Business Services Application Management Services SVP Colleen Arnold said their ability to create business outcomes via world-class application maintenance and support capabilities stems from deep investments in optimization tools and methods -Smarter Application Delivery and Maintenance – delivered through a globally integrated capability model.

"Our strategic intent is all about solving complex challenges while simplifying the full life cycle of applications requirements for our clients. We’ll extend our leadership behind ongoing investments in capabilities like cloud, business analytics and optimization, and collaborative social networking tools," Arnold said.
