McAfee has extended its WaveSecure mobile security platform to devices running Apple’s iOS.
WaveSecure iOS Edition is said to protect information on a device so a user can backup and restore data if the phone is lost or stolen. Information such as contacts, photos and videos can be backed-up and the device’s location can be tracked via McAfee’s WaveSecure online portal.
Contacts can also be restored to other devices such as Android, according to McAfee.
WaveSecure is also available for Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone devices. "We are excited to extend our platform coverage to one of the most popular operating systems for mobile devices on the market," said Todd Gebhart, co-president, McAfee.
"Consumers use their mobile devices to hold some of the most important details of their life. McAfee WaveSecure software works seamlessly to secure, back up and wirelessly restore content on the device via the online portal. So even if the device is lost, stolen or damaged, or even if users accidentally delete their data, the data remains safe and easily accessible," he added.
WaveSecure is available in the Apple App Store now for £13.99, but is currently only available for devices running iOS 4.
