The cloud-based enterprise mobility management and security market in Western Europe is set to reach $763m in 2015, according to a new study by International Data Corporation (IDC).
The study mentions that European companies, currently rationalizing public/private cloud strategies, are beginning to turn to SaaS-based mobile device management and security primarily due to the speed-to-market benefits that SaaS programs deliver.
The study, ‘Western European Enterprise Mobility Management and Security Market Forecast and Analysis, 2010-2015,’ shows that cloud-based enterprise mobility management and security will grow, as vendor multitenant solutions mature and channel providers gain the confidence of businesses, most notably SMEs.
Study author and Mobile Enterprise Strategies EMEA research director Nicholas McQuire said enterprise mobility is becoming mission-critical, but implementing security, policy, and compliance across a diverse set of devices, networks, and applications remains a hurdle.
"The consumerization of IT, the acceleration of mobile enterprise applications, and cloud computing are driving a greater convergence of management and security requirements that operate across the device, network and application layers of enterprise mobility," McQuire said.
"These domains, all very dynamic but fragmented today, are increasingly converging, which is good news as customers are decreasingly thinking of them as islands given their need for holistic approaches to mobile risk management.
"Customers rationalizing mobility requirements today often don’t have the time, resource, or business case to pilot, evaluate, install, and configure capex-based on-premises solutions, so they are turning to the cloud, both public and private, as an alternative to be up and running in hours as opposed to days."
