IBM Espana SA has reported sales of 22,600 personal computers in Iberia in the first quarter of 1996, 46% more than last time. Head of IBM Espana’s personal computer business unit, Javier Sada, announced revenue of around $40m and claimed that the figures confirm the company’s position as leader of the personal computer sector in Spain, Computworld Espana reports. Hewlett-Packard Espana SA, which temporarily led the field exactly one year ago, announced sales of 19,000 units and growth of 36% for the same period. Over 1995 as a whole, IBM Espana topped the personal computer league with 76,200 units sold and a market share of 9.9%, ahead of Hewlett, 61,756 and 8.0%.
