Costa Mesa, California-based FileNet Corp confirms receipt of a complaint filed by Wang Laboratories Inc alleging that FileNet is infringing five patents held by Wang. It says the complaint does not specify the FileNet products which allegedly infringe the Wang patents and that it is evaluating the complaint and the Wang patents to determine whether there is any merit to Wang’s claims, but the on-line document storage and retrieval systems specialist sounds as if it will bend over backwards to settle the affair amicably, saying it has initiated conversations with Wang in an effort to resolve the matter and will if necessary redesign or seek reasonable licensing terms.
