At this rate, you soon won’t be able to get national distribution for electronic products in the US unless you go to Melville, New York-based Arrow Electronics Inc: the insatiable distributor spent last year stomping all over Europe buying local distributors, and this year it has already eaten Gates/FA Distributing Inc. Now it is going after long-established US components distributor Anthem Electronics Inc, and has defi nitive agreement to buy the San Jose firm for shares in a deal put ting an indicated value on Anthem of $348m: Arrow will pay 0.875 of a share for each of the 12.4m Anthem out; Anthem will keep its identity.
