The thing simply is not catching on, and Digital Equipment Corp said yesterday that it will cut prices of its Alpha AXP microprocessors by 10% to 31% effective July 3. It is also offering a 21064A-233MHz Alpha AXP to replace the 225MHz version at $788 each for 5,000-up, 10% less than the slower 225MHz part; the 275MHz version is cut 25% to $1,083 for 5,000-up. The 66MHz 21068 s cut 16% to $186, the 166MHz 21066 is off 10% at $347, the 166MHz 21064 is off 19% at $404, and the 21064-200MHz is cut by 31% to $544.
