Capgemini has completed the acquisition of French internet and telecoms services company Prosodie for €382m, following the authorisation of the French competition authorities.

Prosodie offers business-to-business client transactions and is managed by private-equity fund Apax Partners.

The transaction will enable Capgemini to foray into the high-value-added front office transaction solutions market.

Prosodie will form part of Capgemini’s New Business Model (NBM) service line, which aims to develop services based on proprietary solutions invoiced on a pay-as-you-go basis.

More recently, Prosodie strengthened its position on the Internet applications hosting market with the acquisition of Internet-Fr in France and LevelIP in Italy.

The company also entered into negotiations in July to acquire French company Backelite, a provider in the area of Internet applications for mobile phones and tablets.

Capgemini vice-chairman and CEO Paul Hermelin said the acquisition enables them to complete the group’s portfolio while increasing added value.

The Financial Times has quoted Hermelin as saying that buying the specialist company was part of an attempt to reinvent Capgemini in the face of growing competition from the much larger Indian IT services companies.
