Copenhagen, Denmark-headquartered Olicom A/S has announced its first Peripheral Component Interconnect adaptor for 155Mbps Asynchronous Transfer Mode, unimaginatively called the ATM PCI 155. According to the company, the adaptor comes in two versions, one with standard Sonet/SDH multimode fibre connectors and one with RJ45 unshielded twisted pair connectors. Both feature drivers for network operating systems including Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Windows95, Novell Inc NetWare and UnixWare. In addition, its Asynchronous Mode signalling and local network emulation software, licensed last month by Microsoft Corp, is included with the adaptors, enabling existing Token Ring and Ethernet networks to run alongside an Asynchronous Mode network. The offerings will be available in quantities from next month, priced at $1,000 for the multimode version, $900 for the unshielded twisted pair version.
