IBM Corp has been threatening acquisitions for some time, but it is its Stamford, Connecticut financing arm, IBM Credit Corp, that has moved first, agreeing to buy the Chrysler Systems Inc unit of Chrysler Corp, which provides software and financing services for workstations. Terms were not disclosed. Chrysler Systems’ customers are typically companies with 500 or more personal computers. It has nearly 200 employees and seven sales offices US-wide and is owned by Chrysler Financial Corp. The acquisition will enable IBM Credit to broaden its leasing and financing programmes and increase personal computer options for customers. It will be renamed CS Systems Inc.
