Gold Disk Inc of Santa Clara, California has released VideoDirector 2.0 for Windows, which lets users control their camcorder and VCR from their home computers and assemble defined video clips in any sequence. Users can add titles, sounds, animations and special effects to edited video tapes. The user interface has new features such as drag and drop editing, storyboard display using picture-icons and the product’s three modes – log, edit, and make tape – are designed to simplify the editing process. The tape library keeps a permanent record of every video clip and can be searched and sorted by date, category, and name. It supports any Control-L (found on most 8mm or Hi8 camcorders) compatible camcorder or VCR as a source or record deck. Any camcorder or VCR that has a handheld infra-red remote control may be used as a recording deck. It also supports Sony Corp’s VISCA protocol. Recommended requirements are an 80386 16MHz or higher, 2Mb RAM, MS-DOS 3.0 or higher and Windows 3.1. It costs $200.
