Cisco Systems Inc has enhanced its MultiNet for OpenVMS software, and has bundled new features. Formerly available as separate modules, Network File Server client-server software packages and Phase/IPTM technology – which enables DECnet applications to run over TCP/IP – are now included. In addition, OpenVMS users can now buy site licenses for the new software to migrate multiple systems to TCP/IP-based networking. File and print services have been enhanced, with the inclusion of Auto Server Cacheing, which notifies users when servers have capacity to process files. Enhancements to Line Printer Daemon enable users to print to anywhere on the network. For remote access, support now includes CDDI, FDDI and Token Ring. A new menu configuration utility helps users to set up, configure and access TCP/IP services. Licenses start at $25,000 for 25 users.
