EDventure Ventures, a venture capital company, has been established with $1.55m of working capital by Esther Dyson, former journalist, and the organiser of the annual East-West High-Tech Forums in eastern Europe. The first investment, $100,000, has been made in setting up a company to provide Compuserve on-line services in Hungary. The new company, Middle Europe Networks, takes over the job from the Microsystem Rt, which has just declared bankruptcy. Ms Dyson added that as Microsystem had lapsed on its payments for its leased line, Hungarian Compuserve subscribers were currently having to call Germany to access the system. Ms Dyson is also negotiating to buy a Polish Lotus Notes value-added reseller.
