IBM Corp has OS/2 Warp preload agreements with three of the leading German personal computer manufacturers: Vobis Microcomputer AG, Escom GmbH and Comtech GmbH, and cites German business publication Focus saying that with sales of IBM’s own pre-loaded machines, OS/2 Warp should garner over 40% of the German market, making it the country’s top-selling operating system, albeit as a result of inertia sales – whether it will be the most widely used is another matter – you may have to have OS/2 if you buy a Vobis box, but you can still de-install it and use the MS-DOS or Windows that will also come pre-loaded.
